Articles written in German or English are accepted for review with the understanding that they contain original unpublished work and will neither be nor are presently submitted elsewhere. The submission for publication has been approved by all authors and any cited person as a source of personal communication.
The parts of a paper
Number each page. The first page should contain the title of the article, the name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s) and the name, address, e-mail address and telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding author. Furthermore, at least one classification code according to the Classification System for Journal Articles as used by the Journal of Economic Literature and an abstract in English of approximately 100 words should be added. An abstract in German of similar length is expected to be provided in a separate file.
The first, optional note, marked by an asterisk (*) behind the title of the paper is reserved for acknowledgements and information on grants received.
All publications cited in the text are to be listed on the last page in alphabetical order by authors (list of references). For each entry apply the style and punctuation rules as used in this issue.
Personal Computer Disks
Authors are asked to submit their manuscripts on personal computer disks. The file format preferred for text is Word or Word Perfect. Make sure that the files on the disk and the printouts are identical.
Tables and Figures
Indicate in the text where about these are supposed to be inserted and provide them in separate files apart from the text, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals.
Figures made by specific graphic programmes which allow to export files into .eps-format (e.g. Micrografx- Designer or -Charisma) are preferred to those made by the ordinarily used text programme. In the latter case, please add the underlying data files as a separate files.
Avoid grids as background and bold types.
Use of mathematics
Authors are asked to use mathematics only when its application is a necessary condition for achieving the stated objective of the paper. When mathematics is used, the necessity for doing so should be explained, and the major steps in the argument and the conclusions made intelligible to a non-mathematical reader.
Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author who is responsible for correcting the proofs of the article. We ask to make only minor changes at this stage.
Reprints
If an article is accepted for publication the author is entitled to 20 reprints.
Any manuscript which does not conform to the above instructions may be returned for the necessary revision before publication.
